Venue

Shiran-Kaikan, the venue for the symposium, is situated in the main campus of Kyoto University in Kyoto City. In May, the local climate is comfortable and bright green leaves adorn the many trees of the World Heritage sites in the city.

Access to Kyoto

Kyoto was the capital of Japan from the 8th to 19th centuries and in the field of lighting is famous as the source of bamboo filaments used in the first incandescent lamps. Kyoto is located near Osaka and is reached easily from either Kansai International Airport (KIX) or Osaka International Airport (ITM). Kyoto is also only 2 hours from Tokyo when using the Shinkansen (Bullet train).
